Kakahu Spring Sale Information.

SPRING BULL SALE, THURSDAY OCTOBER 7TH 2010 at 1pm

31 yearling bulls - 7 Charolais 2 year olds

What a great opportunity!

The Angus breed has given breeders an assured programme with Angus Pure, Farm Pure and MacAngus. This will enable breeders to select quality animals with good carcass genetics. To make it even better, the programmes are in place. It is now up to us. The better the carcase genetics, the better the meat will be.

Our product is going be in great demand. While we are building the carcase traits of the Kakahu herd we are maintaining the longevity and hardiness in our cows. We cull for poor structure and dryness. To improve the carcass traits we use top bulls.

We take great pride in the fertility of our cowherd. Of the bulls on offer, all dams have been pregnancy tested in calf each autumn. Dam and grand dam records are a great indication of the strength of the fertility of the whole herd. At Kakahu every possible trait is measured with great adherence to accuracy.

We totally support the Group Breedplan code of Practice. Of the yearling bulls offered in this sale, the average for Ease of calving is in the top 15% for New Zealand Gestation Length is in the Top 20%; Birth Weight the top 20%. Self Replacing Index average is in the top 10%. Angus Pure Index is in the top 10% and Ease of Calving Index is in the top 8%.

The Kakahu herd is C10 status for TB. We inoculate for BVD, and have done for many years
